GALLERY + PROJECT ROOM Paralipsis
Curated by Judith Duquemin Artists Kate MacKay, Justin Trendall, Judith Duquemin
Paralipsis is the Greek word meaning to pretend and is the title of an exhibition of playfully woven coloured photocopy paper images, and painted grids of wooden blocks by Kate Mackay, intricate, diagrammatic drawings screen printed on felt by Justin Trendall, and acrylic gouache camouflage paintings of digitally stretched Indonesian textile designs by Judith Duquemin. In this exhibition the three artists utilise pattern to expand on the idea of pretending as a from of imitation by researching relationships between pattern and diagram, pattern and abstraction, and pattern and camouflage within a diverse range of two dimensional fine art making practices.
